Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
This update on his health comes as the global fight fans shared its support for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
